Projects

The following projects are examples of specific experience in MER by the Team members.

  • Developing a Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (MER) framework and undertaking baseline data collection and reporting for the Adoption and Commercialisation Program of the Future Farm Industries CRC (2007-present)
  • Developing a MER framework, staff training program and MER data gathering program for Landscape Logic – a Commonwealth Environmental Research Facilities Hub (2008)
  • Developing a Strategic Plan and MER Plan and Implementation Program for the Natural Resources Advisory Services of NSW DPI (2007/08)
  • The Drought Lots Project which conducted research into the effectiveness of training and incentives for drought management for the Lachlan CMA (2007)
  • Establishing an Evaluation Framework, undertaking baseline and benchmarking data collection and reporting for the New Opportunities in Tropical and Pastoral Agriculture project for DAFWA (2006-present)
  • Evaluation of the use of the National Dryland Salinity Program ‘harvest products’ (LWA 2006)
  • Undertaking market research for the (then) CRC for Dryland Salinity Extension, Education and Training Needs (2005-06)
  • Developing and managing the Stronger Learning Pathways Evaluation Strategy, which included creating log frames for the program and all projects, 6-monthly formal reporting, coaching and mentoring project leaders and community engagement (Cradle Coast Authority, Tasmania 2004-07)
  • Undertaking a Salinity and Water Quality Education Scoping Study (EA and AFFA now DEH and DAFF 2003)
  • Developing and running workshops for RDC & CRC managers, government and NRM bodies in strategic stakeholder engagement, market research and evaluation
  • Developing the QualDATA Log frame and Stakeholder Engagement Matrix which suits large programs with both research and extension components
  • Developing new data collection tools including: structured narratives; structured debriefs; observation approaches; and the use of proformas to maximise internal reporting benefits towards M&E reporting
  • Exploring improved approaches for capturing, measuring and reporting improvements in environmental and social dimensions
  • Developing a centralised web based management and reporting system for evaluation data to facilitate its capture from many different projects and/or sources
  • Developing a Benefit/Cost process specifically designed for agricultural / NRM sector use that recognises ‘resource constraints’ such as personnel that are variable resourcing factors
